Caroline was like every other normal girl in Mystic Falls. Fun loving, caring and even nice. Although she had always hated Elena for her looks and every other aspect that she had either surpassed or was just as good as herself. When John Gilbert came to Mystic Falls everything began changing. Tyler's dad was killed, although no one knows how or why. Caroline was in the car with Tyler and Matt when Tyler heard a noise and drove off the road. Although Caroline was injured. Caroline and Matt were wondering what he heard. Caroline was rushed to the hospital with suspects of internal injuries. She looked fine on the inside and was able to get herself out of the car but after a minute or two she passed out.
After a few weeks in a coma Elena and Bonnie her friends made the decision with Damon and Stefan that Damon would give Caroline some of his blood to make sure that she lived. When Katherine came back to Mystic Falls she went to the Hospital and told Caroline to give them a message, then suffocated her with a pillow. Since Damon had given her some of his blood she returned as a vampire and fed on the nurse. After she was released from the Hospital she returned and Stefan had Bonnie create her a ring so she could go out into the sunlight again. There she returned to her normal life, but now she fed off of the blood of animals. After Bonnie had the vision about someone travelling to the past to change it for the worse, she sent Caprice to stop it. It was after that Bonnie worried that perhaps Caprice was not safe in the past all alone, so she decided to send someone else. It ended up being Caroline that was sent, and now she just has to find Caprice, and stop this mystery time traveller from changing their pasts.
